A Presentation on Legal Issues to Consider in Starting and Operating a Business

Stuart R. Gutwein, a partner at Bennett Boehning & Clary LLP, gave a presentation to a group of entrepreneurs on June 16, 2010 at the Indiana Small Business Development Center. The presentation was in conjunction with the Hoosier Heartland Business Development Center, and Stuart’s topic was legal issues to consider in starting and operating a business.

Stuart discussed the choice of business entity, the differences between corporations and limited liability companies, trademarks, business financing through debt and private equity or venture capital, purchasing and selling businesses, succession planning, and intellectual property matters such as trademark registration.

Stuart’s practice focuses on advising individuals and businesses from start-up or purchase, through operations and succession planning to the next generation or sale. Stuart also advises individuals on their personal estate planning and estate and trust administration.
