Tippecanoe County Bar Association Elects Officers,
Approves Projects and Grants Funding for Legal Aid Office

Brent E Clary of Bennett, Boehning & Clary was installed as president of the Tippecanoe County Bar Association at its Law Day meeting held April 30, 2009. Also named as officers were Randall L. Vonderheide, vice-president, Elizabeth B. Searle, secretary, and Richard L. Bartholomew, CPA, treasurer.

Clary, who has practiced at Bennett, Boehning and Clary since his entry into the practice in 1974, succeeds James W. Greives as president. In his remarks, Clary emphasized that “The association certainly moved forward under Greives leadership, and I am enthusiastic regarding exciting projects we now have in the works.”

Clary states that a priority of the bar association comes from its technology committee and deals with the preparation and maintenance of lists, to be available to the public via internet, of bar association members and their areas of specialty. The committee has been hard at work on the program, and Clary and Greives hope to have devoted websites up and running by mid-summer.

The bar association also granted $9,000 to the Legal Aid Corporation of Tippecanoe County. Ken Weller, Executive Director of Legal Aid, said "The Bar Association funding is the type of contribution that allows Legal Aid to continue to provide legal assistance to low-income residents of Tippecanoe County. Most people don't realize that any money from our local bar association comes from voluntary dues donated by local lawyers."
